Did You Get Everything You Wanted From Santa?

Yesterday’s church service asked this question: “Did you get everything you wanted from Santa this year?”

Well, first you gotta figure out who your Santa is. So, did God er Santa not deliver your present on time, maybe got you something you’ll never use so you’ve found yourself in the return line or did he just not give you anything at all?

We say these prayers and make these list of requests for all kinda of goodies including good health, quick healing, job opportunities, etc. And we’re getting deathly ill, friends and family that we’ve been praying for die, and we’re turned down for another job, yet again.

I think about this time last year and the devastating death of a close friend was the start of an unpredictable 2013.

I didn’t ask for that.

Or the real, paralyzing fact that my step-dad was diagnosed with leukemia.

I didn’t ask for that either.

Jobs I was more than qualified for were not offered and I found myself worried, exhausted, confused…

Nope, I didn’t ask for that.

My grandpa passing just days before Christmas.

No, I definitely didn’t ask for that.

I don’t know if 2013 was the best year of your life or the worst. But for me it was one of the most challenging on my heart…

Jesus says to the woman in Mark 5:25 who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, and touched his cloak, because she thought just by doing that she’d be healed. And she was.

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering”
Matthew 5:34

What I got out of 2013 was nothing that I asked for and everything I didn’t even know I needed.

I needed peace. And it was given.

Freely.

I needed strength. And received it.

Supernaturally.

I needed faith.

And not just simple faith. But FAITH so deep, so strong, so deeply rooted that not even storms would change it. I received that too.

When we are aware of God’s presence everything else just fades away. Yes, I could have done without the heartbreaks but I know God was with me in them and that he is well aware of my circumstances, my wants and my needs.

“Don’t be afraid, just believe” Mark 5:36

However, I still have one more thing on my list. Diamond earrings! I guess I’ll just have to wait for that gift. Haha
