9 Scriptures To Encourage You Today

Do you ever have days where everything is awesome, you’re happy, you’re determined, but then one thought just messes it all up and you are left sitting in a dark state? Just sitting. Engulfed in worry, fear, depression…

Those are days where I wish I had a cheerleader on my arm, telling me to keep pressing forward, don’t give up, persevere, and reminding me of how far I’ve come.

Because, if I’m honest…

I have wanted to throw in the towel.
Wave my white flag.
Shut the blinds.
And go to sleep.

But what good what that do?

God didn’t create us to hide from the world, to clam up when life gets rough. He created us in the image of Him. He created us to be warriors for good. Vessels equipped and capable. Resourced by the Heavens.

A cheerleader on my shoulder is the last thing I need. I need Jesus. He is the ultimate Encourager.

When you crave encouragement, get resourced through scripture, and fill that empty dark space with light by crying out to God and mediate on these:

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 119:114-115
You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God!

Psalm 120:1
I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
