A Morning Prayer: A Good Thing or A God Thing?

When I was baptized just 4 years ago, I was on fire for God! I mean, I was reading and highlighting my bible like crazy, signing up for as many bible studies as possible and posting bible verses on all my social media sites like a pro. All really good things but man, that fire burned out quickly. Why was I not into the whole God thing anymore? Why did that flame burn out? Because I was only doing these things to impress God and myself. What God wants most from us, His children, is fellowship/relationship. Doing good things is awesome! But if your heart isn’t in it and you’re only doing it to appear “Godly, Holy” etc., you’ll get burnt out quickly. Let God teach you His ways. His yoke is easy and the burden He gives us is light.

A Morning Prayer: Lord, I know doing good things is awesome but it is no substitute for having fellowship with You. I pray You open my eyes to see what is preventing me from having a meaningful relationship with You. Please help me to lay down these things/people, so I can spend more time with You. Amen

Then said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT
